Lee Kong Chian School Of Medicine
One of Singapore’s newest medical schools, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine has two campuses: a seven-storey campus at NTU’s Yunnan Gardens and a 20-storey building at Novena next to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Strategically, the Experimental Medicine Building is located in the university’s Yunnan Garden campus, close to NTU’s science and engineering colleges to allow for close collaboration between students and researchers. The building is equipped with top-notch training facilities such as seminar rooms, learning studios, as well as teaching and research laboratories.Concurrently, the Clinical Sciences Building at the Novena campus houses state-of-the-art learning spaces and advanced research facilities, serving as a hotbed for innovative medical education and research.
A unique aspect of this building was that no electrical heater is used. Instead, heat recovery systems were designed to pre-cool outdoor air, harvesting energy from exhaust air from air-conditioned spaces.
For both buildings, extensive coordination with architect partners ensured that space needs were met, while maintaining functionality and practicality.
